The news was first reported earlier today by NFL insider, Ian Rapoport.
Staley emerged as the favorite to land the job following the Saints’ decision to hire Kellen Moore as their 19th head coach in franchise history.
Staley served as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers last year. Before that, he was the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021-2023.
Kellen Moore was his offensive coordinator in his final year as head coach of the Chargers.
Staley was the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator in the 2020 season where they ranked first in scoring defense, yards allowed per game, and second in sacks.
