Rockford man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2024 is out on pretrial

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Demarion Busby, 18, for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in June 2024.

Officers responded to UW Health Swedish American Hospital for reports of a sexual assault on June 6, 2024. The victim told officials the incident occurred at a house in the 1700 block of Genoa Street the day before.

Busby inappropriately touched the woman after being told to stop multiple times, according to court records.

Authorities received a search warrant and retrieved the suspect’s DNA on Jan. 8 after a sexual assault kit was completed that revealed a male’s DNA was located in the kit.

Busby was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Winnebago County Jail on Feb. 18th.

The suspect was granted pretrial release the next day.

Busby is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault.
