HUMBOLDT – Another plant in Humboldt is closing.
International Paper filed a WARN Notice this week, alerting the state of their plans to let 107 employees go at the plant at 533 Forest Road.
The closure date is April 14, according to the WARN Notice.
It is one of four closures nationally, International Paper said in a media release, along with plants in Louisiana, Arizona, and Missouri.
The Hazleton plant is a box plant, they said.
“The decision to close any facility is difficult because of the impact on our team members, their families and the surrounding communities,” said Tom Hamic, executive vice president and president, North American Packaging Solutions, International Paper. “We greatly appreciate the contributions from our departing team members and will do all we can to support them.”
International Paper says they will work to minimize the impact on employees by using attrition, retirements and current vacancies at other International Paper locations. Team members at these locations will receive outplacement assistance, access to mental health support resources and where possible, severance benefits.
International Paper also has a plant near Mount Carmel, where the company is the 33rd largest employer in Northumberland County.
The post International Paper is latest Humboldt plant to announce closure first appeared on The Shenandoah Sentinel.
