SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – The Driver’s License Center near Schuylkill Haven will be closed for a few weeks beginning Monday for renovations. In the meantime, the center near Shamokin will have expanded hours.
PennDOT says the Schuylkill Haven center is getting new flooring, updated furniture, and an additional photo system. To complete the improvements, PennDOT says the facility will be closed from Monday, Feb. 24 until Saturday, March 8.
“As part of the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to serving Pennsylvania residents, modernizing our facilities, and enhancing customer experience, we are making necessary upgrades to our Schuylkill Haven location,” said PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services Deputy Secretary Kara Templeton. “We realize this may be a temporary inconvenience while we work to enhance our facility and services. To minimize service impacts to our Schuylkill Haven area customers, we will offer expanded services at other nearby locations to ensure continued access to driver licensing services during the renovations.”
Schuylkill Haven employees will temporarily be reassigned to the center at Anthra Plaza near Shamokin. While Schuylkill Haven is closed, Shamokin will be open four days a week — Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday — from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Photo services will be available there Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
If you have a driving exam scheduled for Schuylkill Haven during the closure, you’ll be offered the same date and time at Shamokin.
PennDOT also maintains driver’s license centers near Hazleton, Lehighton, and in the Reading area.
