Attala County child dies during mobile home fire

KOSCIUSKO, Miss. (WJTV) – A child died during a house fire in Attala County.

Breezy News reported the fire happened at a mobile home on Attala Road 4151 in the Sallis area just before 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 20.

When firefighters arrived at the location, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Attala County Coroner Sam Bell said the remains of the child were recovered from the scene. The remains will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for DNA confirmation.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office will assist in determining the cause of the fire.
