Rockford manufacturing building evacuated after gas leak

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Drop Forge was evacuated after Rockford firefighters found a large gas leak.

On Feb. 18, around 2 p.m., Rockford Fire responded to the forge located on 10th Street after reports of a gaseous odor. Crews called for help after they found a large gas main with a significant leak.

Firefighters evacuated and isolated the area while Nicor responded to the scene.

The main was eventually shut off and there was no damage reported.

There were no injuries because of the incident.
