Rockford man accused of drug-induced homicide of teenage boy

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Georgia authorities arrested Matthew Alexander, 34, of Rockford, for allegedly providing a 15-year-old boy with heroin and fentanyl, causing his death.

On July 28, 2024, officers responded to the 1100 block of Van Wie Avenue where they found the teen dead on the scene.

An autopsy revealed the 15-year-old died using heroin and fentanyl. Police determined Alexander provided the drugs to the teen after further investigation.

A warrant was put out for the suspect’s arrest on Nov. 12, 2024.

Alexander was arrested by Clayton County Sheriff’s Deputies in Forest Park, Georgia, on Feb. 18th. The FBI and Forest Park Police also helped take the suspect into custody.

Alexander is charged with drug-induced homicide.
