Authorities responded to the 87th Street crossing, located in South Chicago near Baltimore Avenue, after 12:30 a.m. on Feb 12.
Police believe Moises Perez, 19, of Chicago, allegedly drove through the Metra gates and were struck by northbound train.
One of his passengers, Elissa Hernandez, 19, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Perez was charged with reckless homicide, two counts of aggravated DUI causing death, four counts of aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, two counts of aggravated driving without a license and disobeying a railroad crossing.
He was ordered detained without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 5.
