On Feb. 13, fire officials responded to a house fire in Crowley. The family had an AC unit inside of their bedroom which is believed to be the cause of the fire. They said everyone, including the family’s dogs, got out safely.
Cradeur said he wanted to help the LeBlanc family like they helped him give back to the community with the “Project Heat” project where they were able to take care of 121 households and give 252 heaters during the recent winter storm
Arctic air has arrived with cold and windy weather in Acadiana
“A few days ago, I reached out to Andrew and Tasha and offered them my assistance, and they’ve followed me in the past and everything I’ve done. So, they knew what it was that I was wanting to offer,” said Cradeur. “Basically, I wanted to come in and just try to give a helping hand. We started collecting furniture for them. They do have a temporary home to stay in as of right now. We’re currently about 75% stocking it up with furniture.”
Cradeur said the support has been “awesome” and not just Crowley, but all of Acadiana and even Lake Charles is supporting.
“It’s not about me,” he said. “I’m up here doing this to get the story out to where people can offer to help. That’s the whole purpose of why I do it; for the people at home that don’t know so they can offer help so these families can get help. It also brings the community together, makes people feel wholesome and also, if some people are just having a bad day, it’s sometimes nice to see some positivity on social media for once instead of just all the negative.”
The Vanilla Bean and the 87th Miss Crowley have been collecting necessities at KAJN. You can follow the progress on the LeBlanc family’s home here.
