Fishing licenses now available for Indiana anglers

(WANE) – Fishing licenses are now available for 2025, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday.

Licenses are valid from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

The DNR also announced a Lafayette angler broke the state record for shortnose gar. His June 2024 catch was recently confirmed to weigh 2 pounds, 15.9 ounces — more than 10 ounces heavier than the previous record.

If that’s motivation to reel in a record yourself, fishing licenses can be purchased online or in person at the 70th Annual Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show from Wednesday to Sunday. For northeast Indiana, there are various supermarkets and sporting goods stores where you can buy a license; check locations on the DNR’s website.
