Brief dry trend, but more rain and snow likely by Wednesday night

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Tuesday, Utah! After some morning snow showers, high pressure will send a surge of drier air into the Beehive State for our Tuesday afternoon.

Look for any remaining snow shower activity to wind down through Tuesday afternoon, with mainly partly to mostly cloudy skies for the afternoon hours. Our afternoon high temperatures will climb near the average with low to mid 40s expected along the Wasatch Front and low 60s in St. George.

We will kick off our Wednesday with dry conditions, but clouds will be on the increase across northern Utah throughout the day.

Highs will warm into the low to mid-40s across northern Utah, with 50s and low 60s returning to southwest Utah. A warm front will drift across northern Utah Wednesday afternoon bringing the chance for some valley rain/mountain snow showers.

Most of this activity will be light during the afternoon hours, so minimal impacts are expected for your Wednesday afternoon commute.

Wednesday night, widespread heavier precipitation will mix with and change over to heavier snow down to the valley floors overnight. The mountains will see all snow with this event and another decent snowfall event. Valleys could also see some accumulations, with impacts to our Thursday morning commute. Friday, high pressure builds in, bringing drier and warmer conditions into the weekend.
