POLICE: Juvenile wades in pond to avoid arrest

SPEEDWAY, Ind. — A juvenile allegedly led police on a car chase and waded through a large pond to avoid arrest on Sunday.

According to the Speedway Police Department, officers got involved in a chase in the 1800 block of North Lynhurst Drive around 2:30 p.m. The pursuit — which SPD reported involved a stolen vehicle — ultimately ended in the 7400 block of River Walk Drive.

After the chase ended, a juvenile suspect exited the allegedly stolen vehicle and began to flee the scene on foot. Per SPD, the juvenile briefly waded into a large pond in an attempt to evade the officers that were chasing him.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department eventually located the suspect in the 7700 block of Eagle Valley Pass and took him into custody without incident.

SPD confirmed that the stolen vehicle allegedly used during the chase was recovered and returned to its owner.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the chase had been made available.
