CHICAGO — The Second City was among those with citizens gathering for Presidents Day protests against President Donald Trump and billionaire advisor Elon Musk.

Dozens gathered at Federal Plaza downtown in bitter cold temperatures and what was dubbed “No Kings on Presidents Day” to protest the Trump administration’s agenda and a series of executive orders from the president calling for job cuts across federal health, education and human services agencies.

“In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America. Trump must go!” a speaker said, flanked by demonstrators with signs with similar messaging. Other signs read, “mass deportation = ethnic cleansing,” “Stop Project 2025 It’s Un-American” and “Elon has no right to my data.”

Similar protests were planned in cities around the country, including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York City, Oakland and Seattle.

The rallies were planned by several groups, including the 50501 Movement and RefuseFascism.org.

Earlier Monday, a group of Illinois congressional Democrats gathered to push back on the president’s actions.
