2 detained after confrontation leads to shooting in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two people were detained after a person was shot during a confrontation in Porterville Monday morning, the Porterville Police Department announced.

Police say just after 5:10 a.m. they responded to reports of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound near Date Avenue and Lotas Street.

During their investigation, officers report two suspects were allegedly committing thefts from vehicles in the area when the victim confronted one of them. Amid a physical altercation between them, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

Once police arrived on scene, they say both suspects were detained.

Investigators report the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
