The Atlanta District of TxDOT comprises Bowie, Camp, Cass, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Titus, and Upshur. Starting on Monday, February 17, crews will concentrate on brine treatments in heavy-traffic areas, including interstates and U.S. highways.
Brine consists of salt and water and is designed to help prevent ice and snow from sticking to surfaces.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down and maintain a safe travel distance as they approach these moving work zones on the roads to provide for worker safety.
Motorists are urged to stay home if the weather causes hazardous road conditions. TxDOT reminds drivers to buckle up, stay alert, and slow down if they must travel on roadways in less-than-ideal conditions. Updates will be posted around the clock at drivetexas.org, or they can call 1-800-452-9292 for current information on road conditions.
