NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department has released the footage from an officer-involved shooting that happened on Feb. 6.
According to the NOPD, an investigation revealed that around 9:48 a.m., an armed robbery of a blue Nissan Sentra happened in the 1300 block of France Street and was reported to officers.
Later that day, around 5:11 p.m., officers reported spotting the vehicle along with a white Kia sedan also allegedly involved in the armed robbery headed westbound the Claiborne Avenue Bridge.
NOPD officers pulled the stolen vehicle over at the corner of Poland and North Claiborne avenues and arrested three subjects inside.
That’s when officers said the Kia’s driver allegedly attempted to flee, reportedly striking an officer and other vehicles. Three officers then began shooting at the vehicle striking the back windshield.
The officer suffered minor injuries an was taken to the hospital by EMS.
On Monday, Feb. 17, NOPD officials said investigators identified 20-year-old Juquan Dominick as a suspect in the investigation.
Dominick was arrested on Feb. 12 and faces two counts of attempted murder.
NOPD officials said the three officers who discharged their weapons have returned to full duty.
