4-year-old, unrestrained in Rock County crash, suffers life-threatening injuries

UNION, Wis. (WTVO) — A four-year-old child, who police say was properly restrained, was critically injured in a crash on Highway 14 and West Elmer Road in Rock County on Sunday.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 4:47 p.m.

Police said Annalyse Schneeberger-Barbieur, a 21-year-old woman from Brooklyn, Wisconsin, was driving too fast for conditions and lost control as she headed southbound on Highway 14, crossing the center line and colliding with a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Stoughton man.

Both Schneeberger-Barbieur and the child were taken to local hospitals.

The driver of the northbound vehicle suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Schneeberger-Barbieur was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Reckless Endangerment Causing Great Bodily Harm, Child Neglect Causing Great Bodily Harm, and driving on a suspended license.
