Indiana Task Force 1 dispatched to Kentucky to assist with flood relief efforts

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Task Force 1 has been activated and is heading to Kentucky to assist with flood relief efforts.

According to a press release, IN-TF1 was officially activated at 4 p.m. Saturday. IN-TF1 will be deployed as a Type 3 Water Rescue Task Force with Water Resources.

In total, 49 members of IN-TF1 will be sent to Kentucky to assist flood victims. Keith Rinehart will be IN-TF1’s mission leader for this deployment.

As of Saturday at 5:24 p.m., IN-TF1 had not set a definitive departure time. Members of the task force, however, are expected to begin their journey to Kentucky sometime Saturday evening.

WKRN, a Tennessee station affiliated with FOX59 and CBS4, has reported that heavy rain has been falling across middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Nearly all counties in the area are under Flood Watches or Flash Flood Warnings.

WKRN has already begun to receive reports of cars trapped in flood waters and road closures related to high water levels.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on IN-TF1’s deployment to Kentucky had been made available.
