SHENANDOAH – The long-abandoned Shenandoah Abbatoir complex is now rubble.
Brdaric Excavating, of Luzerne, began demolition at the complex at East Poplar and South White Streets in January. The company was contracted by Schuylkill County as part of the county demolition program at a cost of $169,000.
The complex, once home to one of Shenandoah’s largest employers, sat vacant since the mid 1990’s and had partially collapsed.
Shenandoah Borough acquired both properties in 2024.
