But don’t get too comfy… starting this afternoon through Tuesday, we’re in for another active spell. Snow levels will be all over the place: early on, they’re low enough for some valley snow, then they rise by Sunday evening, and drop back down on Monday. This means there’s a chance for a little accumulation in the lower areas, though it’s expected to be light overall.
For the mountains, it’s a bit more intense. Many northern mountain spots are looking at around 6-12 inches of snow, with some favored areas possibly getting even more. The Bear River Range and Upper Cottonwoods could see more in the 10–20-inch range throughout the duration of the active pattern. Winter weather advisories have been issued for the Wasatch Mountains and the Western Uinta Mountains from noon today through noon on Tuesday.
Looking further ahead after Tuesday, expect some more mountain showers and light valley snow as another weather system passes by Wednesday into Thursday. There’s some uncertainty about how strong this system will be, so snowfall amounts are up in the air, there’s a chance it could be a bit more significant… especially in the mountains. We’ll keep you posted. After that, a broader ridge is expected to bring a break from the stormy weather.
