3 bills pass in legislation this week, including free breakfast for public school students

It was a busy week in the Arkansas Legislature, with lawmakers passing three significant bills, including measures for free breakfast for public school students, restrictions on cell phone use in schools, and support for maternal and infant health.
The first bill, SB 59 provides free breakfast for students in public schools. District 3 State Representative Stetson Painter spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News and says this was made possible by revenues from medical marijuana.

Painter says SB 142, known as the Bell-to-Bell No Cell Act, would allow schools to create their own policy as to where a student may keep their cell phone during the day.

With HB 1427, the Healthy Moms and Healthy Babies Act, Painter says the state was able to make a large investment into maternal health.
