Opelika man killed in fiery crash

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — An Opelika man was killed in a fiery crash that happened around midnight Saturday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Austin Jordan was fatally injured when the Chevrolet Silverado he was driving departed the roadway, hit a tree and overturned before becoming engulfed in flames. The crash happened on U.S. 29 about seven miles north of Opelika.

Jordan died at the scene. Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
