Shortly after 4 p.m., Rocky Mountain Power announced that power was restored to all homes affected by the West Jordan outage.
The power was restored sooner than originally predicted, but the website shows nearly 60 homes may still have outages. RMP says any customers still experiencing issues should text “OUT” to 759677.
WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4) — Power officials are investigating after more than 13k homes in the West Jordan area lost power Thursday afternoon.
According to Rocky Mountain Power, approximately 13,700 homes are without power in West Jordan and surrounding areas. Authorities estimate that power will be restored by 6:15 p.m., but the website says some areas could be without power as late as 10:30 p.m.
RMP officials said the cause of the outage was a damaged line but did not elaborate on what led to the damage. While the details of the incident are still being released, the outages come as a snowstorm moves along the I-15 corridor, leading to car crashes and traffic delays.
Rocky Mountain Power encourages those affected by power outages to report them to the company by calling 1-877-508-5088 or texting OUT to 759677. Customers can also report an outage or check their status online.
