From Feb. 14 – 17, Best Friends will be holding free adoptions. You can also bring a foster pet home for the night on Valentine’s Day from their Salt
So far, the SLC Best Friends reports the event has already seen great success, with nine pets fostered and seven adopted by Friday afternoon.
“The response from our local community has been nothing short of incredible. We’ve always known Utahns are amazing, but time and again, they prove it by showing up and giving these animals the love they deserve,” Jackie McKay, manager of marketing strategy with Best Friends said. “It’s heartwarming to watch families with kids pick out the perfect pet for a sleepover or see a single lady take home a furry friend for a cozy night in. These moments remind us that love always wins! Thank you to everyone who made today so special. Let’s keep the love going!”
In addition, on Feb. 15, Best Friends will be at the IFA Country Store in Riverton from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for a chance for people to meet adoptable dogs and cats to find their perfect match.
“Fostering is an essential part of the lifesaving process and fosters provides pets an opportunity to learn that people can be kind, food is available, and there is a warm, secure place to sleep,” a press release from Best Friends said. “This important step in the lifesaving process also provides crucial personality information on a pet to the animal shelter or rescue group, which can help make better adoption matches for the adoptable dogs and cats.”
Adopters and overnight fosters will receive a Blue Buffalo gift bag with food and treats.
