On Friday, Feb. 14, State and Olympic officials named a 25-person organizing committee, led by Committee President Fraser Bullock, former House Speaker Brad Wilson, and Utah business executive Steve Starks.
The Organizing Committee will be tasked with ironing out the final details for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games such as athlete lodging, solving transportation issues, assisting with media coverage, organizing cultural events during the Games, and arranging venues and installations for the Games.
“The organizing committee will bring expertise, experience, and passion to the 2034 Winter Games in Utah, building on the powerful legacy of the 2002 Games and ensuring the 2034 Games carry that legacy forward for future generations,” said U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) CEO Sarah Hirshland. “We are embarking on a remarkable decade of sport in the United States, and we have a great opportunity to showcase Olympic and Paralympic sport across America with Los Angeles 2028 and Salt Lake City-Utah in 2034.”
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox praised the leadership group, saying having strong leadership is vital for the success of the Games and the “enduring legacy” for Utah.
“Fraser Bullock brings a great depth of Olympic experience as our executive chair and president. Brad Wilson has proven over many years to be a talented and prudent leader, and we look to his guidance as CEO. I’m grateful for Steve Starks, who has been my Olympic advisor, for his deep experience in business and sports and entertainment,” said Cox.
With much of the work already completed – such as venues already being identified and in place – the 2034 organizing committee will use the next nine years as a time to focus on communities.
“In the leadup to 2002, we were constructing venues,” said Bullock. “As we move towards 2034, our focus will be on communities. We want to ensure that the values of sport will impact all 29 counties in Utah.”

Gov. Spencer Cox and Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall were also named honorary chairs of the committee while Utah Senate President J. Stuart Adams and House Speaker Mike Schultz were named honorary vice chairs.
Additional committees are expected to be named, including a steering committee to provide advisory support, with broad community and sport engagement.
