Rockford man accused of pushing a woman to the ground, pointing a gun at her

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Patrick Martinez, 26, for allegedly not letting a woman leave her apartment and pointing a pistol at her.

On Dec. 29, 2024, officers were called to the 500 block of Fisher Avenue for reports of domestic battery. The victim told authorities Martinez was mad about being turned away from District Bar and Grill because they were at capacity.

The woman went home around 1:20 a.m. and saw Martinez sitting outside her residence, according to court documents. The victim told officials she waited until 3 a.m. to enter her apartment.

Martinez followed her up to her residence and started pushing her while they were both inside, according to court records.

The woman told authorities he poured a beer on her head, refused to let her leave, pushed her down again and pointed a handgun about 8 inches away from her face.

The victim was eventually able to leave the apartment after she called the police.

Martinez was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on Feb. 13 and was granted pretrial release the next day.

He is charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated assault while using a deadly weapon and domestic battery causing physical contact.
