According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Ethan Back, 38, was seen swerving in and out of traffic around 9:50 p.m. on Somerset Road.
During a traffic stop, deputies said that a marijuana smell was found coming from inside the vehicle. A pair of clear plastic bags with hydrocodone and what’s believed to be methamphetamine were also located.
According to an arrest citation, Back told deputies that he ingested both substances in the bags. After a search of the vehicle, a small pipe with what appeared to be burned marijuana was also found.
Back was arrested and booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center, where he was charged with:
- Operating a vehicle while under the influence
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Numerous traffic-related charges
He is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
