Chicago winter: Least snowy start in nearly nine decades

CHICAGO — Wednesday’s snowfall is the most significant snow event of the season, and it’s long overdue.

To date, it’s been the least snowy start to a season in nearly nine decades (since 4.6” was on the books through February 11 in 1936-37).

The heaviest snow so far this season was 2.9 inches that fell on November 21.
