According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated that the girl was struck by gunfire Sunday night inside a residence on the 9200 block of South Harper Avenue.
She was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner has identified the girl as Dalilah Batey.
Police said the juvenile was arrested Sunday, less than two hours after the fatal shooting occurred.
