Carjackers steal vehicle with woman, 1-year-old inside: CPD

CHICAGO — A woman and a toddler are safe after the car they were sitting in was stolen in the South Loop on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said the incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. in the 400 block of West Harrison Street while the victims, a 29-year-old woman and a 1-year-old girl, were sitting in the backseat of a car.

According to police, while the two victims were sitting in the car, two offenders allegedly entered and began driving while they were still inside.

As the vehicle approached the intersection of West Harrison Street and South Paulina Street, offices said the two offenders pulled out a gun and demanded the woman and child exit the vehicle.

Officers said the vehicle was later located and the two people allegedly responsible were taken into custody in the 3500 block of South King Drive.

The victims were not injured in the incident, offices said.
