2 injured after being caught in crossfire between two groups on Far South Side: CPD

CHICAGO – Two people were injured by gunfire Saturday evening on the Far South Side after they were reportedly caught in the crossfire between two groups.

Chicago police said the incident happened at around 7:20 p.m. in the 13100 block of South Ellis Avenue in the city’s Altgeld Gardens neighborhood.

A 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were reportedly walking on the sidewalk when they saw two large groups of unknown people shooting at each other. The victims claimed they were caught in the crossfire between the two groups, according to investigators.

Police said the 20-year-old man was shot in the left arm and stomach and took himself to Roseland Hospital where he is listed in good condition; the 14-year-old boy was shot in the left ring finger, took himself to a local hospital and is in good condition.

No arrests have been made and Area Two Detectives are investigating.
