16-year-old charged in death of Holmes County teen

HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Holmes County deputies arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the shooting death of an 18-year-old.

Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said Adrian Steverson was arrested and charged with murder and felony taking of a vehicle.

Steverson is accused of killing Karterius Barksdale, whose body was located on the side of Huckleberry Road in Durant just before 3:45 p.m. on Monday, February 3. According to March, Barksdale had been shot multiple times.

The sheriff said Barksdale’s vehicle had been stolen.

Steverson is being held in the Holmes County Jail. His bond was set at $800,000 on each charge.
