Woman shot confronting car thieves in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was shot after confronting two people attempting to steal her car early Monday morning, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says.

Deputies say they were called to a shooting in the area of S. Westwood Avenue and W. Orange Street in Porterville just after 1 a.m. Monday.

On scene, deputies say they found a 54-year-old woman who had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital, treated, and released.

Investigators determined the woman was confronting two people who were trying to steal her car before she was shot. The suspects involved have yet to be identified.
