As of 12:54 PM, all roadways have reopened, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to Texas DPS, the accident took place around 6 a.m. when a southbound truck tractor semi-trailer overturned on U.S. 83/84, obstructing the intersection. Emergency crews worked actively to clear the spill while the intersection was shut down for all southbound traffic.
The Jim Ned Volunteer Fire Department shared on Facebook the incident involved a fully loaded fuel tanker with approximately 7,500 gallons of gasoline and diesel. JNVFD received mutual assistance from the Abilene Fire Department HAZMAT team, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, TXDOT, and Texas DPS.
A friend of the truck driver told BigCountryHomepage that he sustained minor injuries.
