DA: Orosi man guilty after shootings at unsuspecting victims
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An Orosi man was found guilty of attempted murder after two drive-by shootings at unsuspecting victims, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday.

According to the DA, on June 27, 2023, a group of people who were outside in Cutler saw an unfamiliar dark sedan drive past slowly. The driver reportedly yelled at the group and fired shots at them, hospitalizing two men with non-life-threatening injuries.

The DA reports a month later on July 29, 2023, a man was outside his vehicle at a relative’s house in Cutler when a dark sedan approached. The man insisted he did not want any problems as the driver began yelling profanities at him.

According to court records, the driver began shooting at the man who took cover behind his vehicle. About an hour later, deputies found the suspect in a single-vehicle crash into an orchard.

On Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, the DA says 20-year-old Raul Alberto Vasquez was found guilty of the series of shootings that occurred over the summer of 2023 in the Cutler-Orosi area.

Court records state Vasquez was convicted of four felony counts of willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder, four special allegations of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, two special allegations of personally and intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury, and two special allegations of personal discharge of a firearm.

The DA says Vasquez is scheduled for March 19 to be sentenced where he could face 118 years to life in prison.
