Tanker Truck Overturns, Spills Gasoline, Closes US 84/83 Intersection

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A tanker truck overturned early Sunday morning at the intersection of U.S. Highways 84 and 83, spilling gasoline and forcing a road closure for southbound traffic.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. when a truck tractor semi-trailer traveling south on U.S. 83/84 overturned, blocking the intersection. Emergency crews are working to clear the spill, and officials have closed the intersection to all southbound traffic.

Motorists traveling south and those approaching from Tuscola are advised to seek alternate routes until the intersection is cleared. Authorities estimate the intersection will reopen before noon.

Northbound traffic on U.S. 84 remains open and is unaffected by the closure.
