Jury finds man guilty of rape of underage family member in Fulton County


A man from Cherokee Village has been found guilty of the rape of an underage family member in Fulton County and sentenced to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Forty-six-year old Charles Edward Slater Jr. also has two other open court cases in Sharp County.
In the Fulton County case, Slater was found guilty of two counts of rape by the jury. The jury sentenced him to the 40 years in prison.




Slater is accused of raping an underage family member in 1999 or 2000. The female was under the age of 14 at the time. No other details of the crime were released.

Slater is facing four counts of rape in one of the cases in Sharp County from 2013 to 2019 involving a victim under the age of 14. In the other case, he is facing two counts of second degree sexual assault for incidents involving a victim under the age of 14 in 2015.

Slater is still being held in the Sharp County Jail awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
