Deputy-involved shooting in Delhi, investigators say

DELHI, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Merced County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to the public Saturday evening about law enforcement activity in the town of Delhi.

Authorities say they were on the scene at around 8:30 p.m. investigating a deputy-involved shooting in the area of Schendel Avenue and Stephens Street in Delhi.

In an update early Sunday morning, deputies say they had attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle and the suspect, identified by officials as Juan Ibarra Rosales, instead led them on a pursuit.

The pursuit ended when the suspect drove into a patrol vehicle and deputies shot at him, striking the suspect once. The suspect was then taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
