MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after officers with the California Highway Patrol stopped him for driving 32 miles over the speed limit in Madera County.
CHP says on Thursday just after 4:30 p.m., they observed a silver Ford Focus traveling westbound on Avenue 12 near Road 21 1/2 at 87 mph in a 55-mph zone.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but say the driver was slow to react to the patrol vehicle’s lights and siren. After approximately two miles, the driver realized he was being pulled over.
Upon contact, CHP says the driver displayed signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
