According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, Yazoo County deputies were contacted on Thursday, January 30 by family members stating that they had not heard from Michael Wilkinson, 46, of Yazoo City, after several attempts to call him. He was last spoken to around 7:30 a.m.
Shivers said the family pinged Wilkinson’s phone and located it on Dover Road. When they arrived at the location, the family spotted what appeared to be tracks of a vehicle running off of the road.
Wilkinson’s vehicle was located about 20 feet down an embankment in a thick wooded area. Shivers said the vehicle had struck several trees and had ended up on its side. Wilkinson’s body was found inside the vehicle.
According to Shivers, Wilkinson was unrestrained and suffered trauma. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
