IDAHO FALLS — A 22-year-old was charged with a felony after police say he stabbed a man during an argument.
Dallas Jack Jensen is charged with felony aggravated battery.
According to court documents, Idaho Falls Police were dispatched to a home on Vernon Street on Friday around 9:43 p.m. about a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they spoke to Jensen, who stated that he had fought with a relative’s boyfriend.
After interviewing witnesses, officers say Jensen and the victim were fighting in the kitchen when Jensen “grabbed a knife and stabbed (the victim) one time in the left abdominal area.”
Police reports say Jensen was also stabbed just below his ribcage, but it was by his own knife during the fight and “wasn’t believed to have been intentional.”
Jensen reportedly admitted to grabbing the knife and said he did so after the victim was “on top of him (in) the kitchen.”
He then admitted to swinging the knife at the victim.
The victim told police he wasn’t armed and didn’t realize he had been stabbed until after the fight was over.
Police say the stab wound was approximately 1 to 1.5 inches long and required four staples.
Jensen was arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail on a $15,000 bond. A no-contact order was issued for the victim.
Jensen is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 7. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
Though Jensen has been charged with these crimes, this does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
