DA: Brothers charged in home invasion robbery, police shooting in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Charges have been filed against two men involved in a home invasion robbery that ended with an officer shooting at them, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said.

The DA announced Tuesday that charges were filed against Antwoine Mancia, 43, and Amicho Mancia, 37. It is alleged that on Jan. 26, Antwoine, Amicho and a third suspect broke into the victim’s home armed with a gun and removed a large safe that was loaded into their car.

The Fresno Police Department arrived on the scene and say they observed the driver enter the parked car and ordered him to stop. The driver, Amicho, ignored the order and drove the car toward the officer, who fired several rounds defending himself and trying to stop the suspects.

According to the DA, Antwoine and Amicho fled the location, driving onto Fresno State’s campus. Officers stopped the car. Amicho fled from the car and was running toward the campus when a K-9 was released and subdued him. Amicho, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was then placed into custody.

The DA’s office say Antwoine was also placed into custody and the two officers who responded to the call reported minor injuries.

The Felony Complaint filed in the Superior Court alleges that Antwoine Mancia committed the following crimes:

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of residential burglary
  • Three counts of felon in possession of a firearm
  • One count of possession of an assault rifle
  • One count of felony concealed firearm in a vehicle

Per the DA, the complaint says Amicho Mancia committed the following crimes:

  • One count of assault on a peace officer
  • One count of home invasion robbery
  • One count of residential burglary
  • Three counts of felon in possession of a firearm
  • One count of felony evading a peace officer
  • One county of possession of an assault weapon
  • One count of felony concealed firearm in a vehicle
  • Two counts of resisting an executive officer
  • One count of resisting arrest

The DA’s office says if convicted of all charges and allegations, Antwoine faces up to 28 years in state prison and Amicho faces up to 47 years in state prison.
