The American Red Cross is asking donors to give blood to help the blood supply from the ongoing impact of severe winter weather and wildfires. Donors of all blood types, particularly type O negative, is encourage to donate this month.
Hundreds of Red Cross blood drives have been canceled due to dangerous snow and ice sweeping across the country, resulting in approximately 15,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations in January.
Blood donation opportunities are coming up in Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard and Sharp Counties.
Baxter County locations include St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 1 to 6 on Jan. 28, Baxter Regional Medical Center from 9 to 1 on Feb. 11, Alley-White American Legion Post 52 from 10 to 2 on Feb. 12 and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1 to 5 on Feb. 12.
Boone County locations include the Boone County Library from 10 to 2 on Jan. 27 and North Arkansas College from 9 to 3 on Jan. 29.
Fulton County will have a location at Moko Church of Christ from 12 to 5 on Feb. 14 and Izard County will have a location at Ozarka College John E. Miller Complex from 10 to 2 on Jan. 29.
Sharp County will have locations at Cave City High School from 9 to 2 on Jan. 30 and the A.L. Hutson Memorial Center from 1 to 5 on Feb. 12.
All who donate between Jan. 27 and Feb. 28 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice.
