Suspect named: Man who crashed a stolen SUV into a Fresno school fence

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The man who was trailed by a police helicopter and ultimately crashed a stolen SUV into a Fresno school fence Thursday night was named by police.

Police say David Garcia was the man behind the wheel.

in Fresno. After spotting it Thursday night at Shaw and Valentine avenues, they attempted a traffic stop, but Garcia fled.

Police say they then called on air support to follow the SUV. After driving the wrong way down Highway 180 and being followed by law enforcement, Garcia crashed into a fence at Scandinavian Middle School and was arrested.
