Get a poorly drawn portrait of your pet for a good cause!

IDAHO FALLS — Need a Valentine’s Day gift for your special someone this year? Donate to the Snake River Animal Shelter, and you can give them a bad drawing of your pet.

Sally Solis, the Snake River Animal Shelter’s development director, says employees and volunteers are having fun flexing their artistic skills and raising money to continue caring for pets without permanent homes.

“The response has been incredible,” says Soris. “There have been other shelters that have done something like this, and it’s something we wanted to try. As a non-profit, we need all the good fundraising ideas we can get.”

Patrons can bring a photo of their pet to the animal shelter and receive a piece of beautiful (or not-so-beautiful) artwork drawn by an animal shelter employee or volunteer.

“You might get an extremely talented artist,” said Michelle Ziel-Dingman, the executive director of the Snake River Animal Shelter in a news release. “But we’ll be honest…you’ll probably get someone who simply loves animals and has the art skills of a kindergartener. All funds will help support our no-kill animal shelter, though, and we’ll surely make you laugh!”

For $15, you can receive an unframed portrait of your pet, or for $25, you’ll get a gift-wrapped portrait in a thrifty frame.

Anyone interested is asked to sign up and upload their pet photo by Feb. 10 to this link.

One hundred percent of the funds raised will benefit the homeless pets at Snake River Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter and rescue.
