According to Fresno County deputies, on Sunday evening, 41-year-old Samuel Botello Rodriguez entered a home on the 8100 block of E. Belmont Ave. in Fresno through an open garage door. Inside was a woman who deputies say Rodriguez stabbed and punched multiple times before fleeing.
A family member came home a short time later and called 911. The woman was transported to the hospital, treated and released.
Deputies say evidence identified Rodriguez, a man with a prior conviction for burglary and currently on Post-Release Community Supervision, as the attacker.
On Tuesday at 1 p.m., sheriff’s officials say an officer spotted Rodriguez at a Sanger Jack in the Box and contacted sheriff’s detectives who responded to the restaurant, took custody of Rodriguez and booked him into the Fresno County Jail where he is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail.
The sheriff’s office says he was arrested under suspicion of attempted homicide and burglary.
