Officials say around 5 p.m. officers from the Central Policing District were dispatched to 2000 block of North Wilson Avenue regarding a male who was breaking windows of vehicles.
When officers arrived, officials say two community members were detaining the suspect, 32-year-old Tyson Dawson.
According to officials, officers spoke with victims and witnesses and determined that Dawson had broken the windows of 5 vehicles on the street. One of the owners of a vehicle confronted Dawson as he was rummaging through his vehicle.
Officials say Dawson became combative and swung a pair of gardening shears at the victim, striking him on his right elbow. Dawson was wrestled to the ground and held until officers arrived.
After an investigation of the incident, officials say Dawson was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of multiple charges including felony assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of felony vandalism over $400, two counts of felony burglary, two counts of misdemeanor violation of stay away/protective order and misdemeanor vandalism under $400.
