Originally from Wall, Texas, pianist Terry Mikeska has built an impressive career, starting with performances in San Angelo lounges. Over time, he climbed the ranks, playing at high-profile events and for prominent figures, including Governor Greg Abbott and former President George W. Bush during his 1994 gubernatorial campaign. Whether entertaining on a cruise ship or performing at an exclusive cocktail party in Washington, D.C., as he did Saturday night, Mikeska says each gig has paved the way for the next.
In the music business, he explains, it’s all about connections.
“You have one chance at these kinds of events,” Mikeska shared. “I’m not shy about saying hello or even calling out, ‘Hey, Elon Musk, come here!’ Haha. I’ve always thought, ‘Someday, you know?’ I’m not looking to be a famous pianist, but I’d love to play for some famous people.”
Tonight, Mikeska is in Washington, D.C., preparing for another prestigious event—this time, a private gathering for Trump’s top campaign donors. Looking ahead, he has his sights set on one more dream: performing at Mar-a-Lago for Trump himself.
