KTAB IS BACK ON AIR: Nexstar & Optimum partner reach agreement to restore programming

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Nexstar Media Group, the parent company of KTAB and KRBC, has reached an agreement with Altice USA to restore network and local programming for Optimum cable customers. This resolution comes after a week-long blackout impacting viewers of 63 local television stations across 42 markets nationwide.

Negotiations between Nexstar and Altice had been ongoing since October. According to Nexstar,

“Altice repeatedly demanded special terms that are wildly out of step with both our longstanding relationship and the cable television marketplace.”

On January 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., Nexstar programming was removed from Optimum cable customers, leaving viewers without access to local news, weather, natural disaster alerts, NewsNation, the NFL Playoffs, live sports, and other entertainment programming.

Eight days later, on January 18, 2025, Nexstar Media Group and Altice USA reached a comprehensive agreement, restoring programming to Optimum TV customers.

In a joint statement, Nexstar and Optimum said, “Together, Nexstar and Optimum thank our customers and viewers for their patience as we partnered on the best deal for them.”

Details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
