ALL CLEAR: Snyder ISD reopens following threat investigation, increased security in place

SNYDER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) Snyder ISD, which closed schools on Thursday due to emailed threats, has now given the all-clear while the investigation remains ongoing.

According to the school district, shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, Snyder ISD school board members received an email with specific threats against Snyder ISD. The Snyder Police Department was immediately notified and is now working with the FBI and Homeland Security in the investigation.

Authorities did not have enough information or time to issue an ALL CLEAR before school started, so classes were canceled on Thursday, January 16, 2025. This decision was made to allow law enforcement the necessary time to thoroughly investigate the threat and ensure the safety of all campuses.

Throughout the night, law enforcement monitored activities inside and outside the school buildings. In the morning, additional teams reviewed security footage and conducted further searches across all campuses.

According to the Snyder Police Department, current evidence suggests an out-of-state person of interest.

On Thursday at about 2:00 p.m., Snyder ISD announced that the schools are secured and will resume normal operations Thursday evening.

“While we are unable to share additional details at this time to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation, we can assure you that law enforcement officials have worked diligently to secure our schools,” Snyder ISD shared online. “At this time, we are confident in confirming that there is no active security threat to any Snyder ISD campus. We have been given the all-clear to resume all on-campus activities beginning this afternoon and school on Friday.”

There will be an increased presence of law enforcement on all campuses as an additional precaution.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to BigCountryHomepage for updates as they become available.
